Luxor Mel Technologies
The challenge was to provide the hydraulic and control upgrades necessary to add a selectable low tonnage function to a 2750 ton extrusion press for extruding 5″ magnesium billets. It had to integrate fully, and function seamlessly, with the existing high tonnage, low-speed extrusion facility and hardware for 12″ magnesium billets.
The work, completed by Hydrapress, resulted in an improved surface finish with less scrap, better control of low-speed extrusion and a reduction in energy consumption.

We are thankful to Hydrapress for his valuable inputs for the re-design and modification of the extrusion press hydraulics to suit the upgrades on our 1800 UST and 2500 UST presses. In addition to successful execution of these upgrades, he has significantly contributed in educating our maintenance team on important aspects of industrial hydraulics like maintaining the properties of hydraulic oil, settings and adjustments of variable displacement pumps, etc.
